Upcoming Events

Join us Sunday, May 26th from 5pm – 6:30pm at the Methow Valley Interpretive Center for a presentation by Colville Confederated Tribes Fish and Wildlife biologist Matt Young!

As always, Last Sundays are free, but your donations help keep us going, and are always much appreciated.

Matt will talk about how the Colville Confederated Tribes Fish and Wildlife Department uses Traditional Ecological Knowledge and modern science to improve aquatic habitats and reduce the extinction risk to local aquatic species by enhancing cold, clean, connected and complex habitats.

This talk will highlight two recently completed projects. The first project is the Twisp Aquatic Restoration projects which were completed in 2022. These projects increased the complexity in roughly 6 miles of streams. The second project is a fish passage project located in Loup Loup Creek that was completed in 2023. This project connected adult salmonids, and their offspring, to 5 miles of cold water habitat.

Matt has lived outside of Twisp since 2012. As a Senior Fisheries Biologist for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation Matt fills a number of roles, but his main focus is improving local aquatic conditions for critters big and small. Outside of the office, Matt can often be found riding his bike, skiing, or sailing.
